I like this b/w version, the only thing bothering me is the shadow. it makes it look more like a notch in the "F". What if you moved the shadow just under the fold instead of sticking out from the top, make sense?

i really like it. very clever. it kind of reminds me of the logo for a paper company called finch paper. it's the same idea but yours is more clever
