That is a great logo, especially for a micro-brewery. Reminds me of some of the Magic Hat labels. Not much else I can say but great work.

gfxmonkey said on Oct. 22 '06

Great logo for a micro brew. I'd love to try some.

KGB said on Oct. 23 '06

great illustration.

nvictor said on Oct. 23 '06

I love it. Pixel art? Too cool. Keep up the good work. One comment on the colors though: not enough vivid for me.

netboogie said on Oct. 23 '06

I am biased as Mike designed this logo for me, but I am still floored by it. A larger, more detailed version found here:

Great logo, 4 stars. Hot damn that is some gorgeous work. The mark is amazing. Nothing to add other then praise!

shaneg said on Oct. 23 '06

It's a beautiful logo, a manly sort of beauty of course...

WetDog said on Oct. 23 '06

I can add this to my list of:
"Logos I wish I had designed."

ClimaxDesigns said on Oct. 23 '06

I posted this thinking, hey if i catch flack for putting this up, so be it"

I'm glad people agree with me that this logo, thought complex and wildy detailed, still works and works beautifully.

joilsonmarques said on Oct. 24 '06

Great! Just it.

logomotive said on Oct. 24 '06

Wow, thanks for all the nice comments. Climax, I really do not know why you would catch any flack. I think people are too stuck on the gotta be black/solid, "less is more","keep is simple stupid" while I could not agree more with these points, there is nothing wrong with an illustrated logo especially if it has a purpose. I have seen some designs people think are simple (with gradients) A popular one on this site. and cannot be reproduced in black and white. So in short a design can be more complex and work, just like climax said.

It is a fantastic logo. Illustrative yes but fitting. I'd love to see the beer's packaging.

Mike, that logo is HOT

raja said on Oct. 25 '06

lovely

senterbrands said on Oct. 25 '06

wow... amazing work. been looking at your stuff for over a year now. still amazed at every new one you produce.

anticubicle said on Oct. 26 '06

I'm not too sure if I get the sense of a brewery when seeing this logo, rather I see a Football or Hockey team.

Just wondering, how much of the logo did you hand illustrate?

Also what's the font you used?

Logomotive said on Oct. 26 '06

I was just about to make a post of how I had not had not 1 negative feedback, when this came in dang. Anti, every square inch of the design was hand illustrated then cleaned up in AI including Deep Six font. The only part that is not original is the Brewery Co part.

...added to favorites. Nice vectoring.

If this was a sticker I'd put one on everything I own!

CreativeGuy said on Oct. 31 '06

A beautiful piece of art for sure, but as a logo I think it fails miserably. Too complicated, relies on color and young eyes too much.

logomotive said on Nov. 01 '06

Creative Guy, fails miserably?...NOT! works beautifully for the purpose. Bite Me.

madrid said on Nov. 01 '06

Yeah I think CreativeGuy is probably drunk, just not on Deep Six brew. Man, this logo kicks lotsa ass. It's got my 5 star vote, and an add to my faves. Great work!

anticubicle said on Nov. 02 '06

Who Logomotive! "Bite Me."?

Way to be professional man! (Sarcasm) Let CreativeGuy have his opinion.

logomotive said on Nov. 02 '06

Anti, your right maybe not very professional, but is degrading someones work by saying that it fails miserably professional? Hey I can take comments and value some of them but I felt this was an unethical and incorrect statement. Water under the bridge now, it's been done.My bad.

anticubicle said on Nov. 02 '06

Yeah man, no problem. Just gotta brush some stuff off. Think of if a client was browsing this and was looking for a designer, doubtful that he/she would wanna work with someone who tells his peer's to "bite him".

You have great work, let it do the talking :)

CreativeGuy said on Nov. 02 '06

Look, I'm not saying it's bad art. The thing is beautiful. But try putting that "logo" in ONLY black ink on something the size of half a business card. I think it's too busy to be a logo. Again, BEAUTIFUL artwork, but in my opinion it's just not a great logo.

logomotive said on Nov. 02 '06

CG, well your most certainly entitled to your opinion and I apologize for my comment, however all my designs are put through the "test" biz card size and designed first in black and white. I have that version if you would like to see it. I understand what you mean by logo more clean and corporate and I agree mostly but that does not make this NOT a logo. Take Starbucks as an example.

anticubicle said on Nov. 03 '06

This is to CreativeGuy,

I think you're stuck in the 1980's or early 1990's. For the hell of it, I took the logo and printed it on a small scale and it looked just fine. OF COURSE you lose some of the detail, that's a given.

If you think every logo needs to be flat, solid 2D shapes with little detail that must be scalable then I feel you need to rethink your career b/c it's 2006 and logos are only going to advance.

Try not to be so close minded towards other people's work.

oddlaa said on Nov. 09 '06

I think it works great. I love the artwork and it would look different than the average beer on the shelf, that's for sure.

Props to your client for a great name, too.
