Wow, thanks for all the nice comments. Climax, I really do not know why you would catch any flack. I think people are too stuck on the gotta be black/solid, "less is more","keep is simple stupid" while I could not agree more with these points, there is nothing wrong with an illustrated logo especially if it has a purpose. I have seen some designs people think are simple (with gradients) A popular one on this site. and cannot be reproduced in black and white. So in short a design can be more complex and work, just like climax said.

I was just about to make a post of how I had not had not 1 negative feedback, when this came in dang. Anti, every square inch of the design was hand illustrated then cleaned up in AI including Deep Six font. The only part that is not original is the Brewery Co part.
Yeah I think CreativeGuy is probably drunk, just not on Deep Six brew. Man, this logo kicks lotsa ass. It's got my 5 star vote, and an add to my faves. Great work!
Anti, your right maybe not very professional, but is degrading someones work by saying that it fails miserably professional? Hey I can take comments and value some of them but I felt this was an unethical and incorrect statement. Water under the bridge now, it's been done.My bad.
Yeah man, no problem. Just gotta brush some stuff off. Think of if a client was browsing this and was looking for a designer, doubtful that he/she would wanna work with someone who tells his peer's to "bite him".
Look, I'm not saying it's bad art. The thing is beautiful. But try putting that "logo" in ONLY black ink on something the size of half a business card. I think it's too busy to be a logo. Again, BEAUTIFUL artwork, but in my opinion it's just not a great logo.
CG, well your most certainly entitled to your opinion and I apologize for my comment, however all my designs are put through the "test" biz card size and designed first in black and white. I have that version if you would like to see it. I understand what you mean by logo more clean and corporate and I agree mostly but that does not make this NOT a logo. Take Starbucks as an example.
I think you're stuck in the 1980's or early 1990's. For the hell of it, I took the logo and printed it on a small scale and it looked just fine. OF COURSE you lose some of the detail, that's a given.
If you think every logo needs to be flat, solid 2D shapes with little detail that must be scalable then I feel you need to rethink your career b/c it's 2006 and logos are only going to advance.
Try not to be so close minded towards other people's work.

I'm glad people agree with me that this logo, thought complex and wildy detailed, still works and works beautifully.

Just wondering, how much of the logo did you hand illustrate?
Also what's the font you used?
