I get the concept and I know it's a modified "S", but it looks like a snake with the head and tail cut off - kind of creepy actually. And I'm pretty sure that Sidewinder (rattlesnakes) don't have diamonds on their backs (like a Diamondback snake) - the one's I've seen have spots.
Thanks for the feedback! Actually, I knew that sidewinders don't have diamonds, but the spots would have been funky on a stripped-down, simplified motif. Originally, I'd thought maybe diamonds were a lowest-common-denominator for "rattlesnake" recognition, but I'm open to suggestion.
