Agreed. Very cool illustration. I think it could do without the shadow though. Makes it look like a dancing bird or something, since it would be so close to the ground if it had that shadow. Without the shadow, it would look more like it's flying, about to swoop down and snatch up some grub... or perhaps a victim in distress, flying them off to safety.

I toyed with not keeping the shadow but I liked the "grounding" effect it had. Probably doesn't need it but what the hell.

Nice illustration. I like the symmetry you through off with the talons being uneven. The shadow gives it a reason for the talons to be in that position. I'd keep it.
