@Mike: I wasn't sure how this would be received here but the client wanted something warm and friendly, yet modern, with an element of tradition. To appeal to both the well-to-do lawyer and university student.

I think this concept is the strongest image of the group.

I'd like to see the neck of the grammophone maybe, even if it was subtley place like a 75% tone of the background grey or something :)

Yep. LOVE the mark. I think the font could be more modern (yet still keep it classy for high end sales) if you really want to modernise their well established company.
