"different story. it'a a swoosh. It's a BRAND itself!"
what? i think you need to read up on what branding is vs what an identity is, the identity is nothing more than the vessel that the brand shapes and molds into itself.
nike created the 'swoosh' there where no 'swooshes' before it. the 'swoosh' represents shoes , because nikes brand, through its marketing campaign has made it such in the hearts and minds of the masses.
rose, garden, birds, bees, sex... wait not that last one =)
logomotive : Caps lock. It is not for me to justify the concept or the contrary. The link between birds and rose gardens is not the most obvious one. Your second question is completely incomprehensible.
Dache:
My choice: emotions above the goods. In this trade mark I have reflected it in design. There can be this cynical application, but somebody can tell, what a singing birdy and a pink garden it not poetry?
...until a billion dollars made it so.. & a billion dollars could take this a long way too... I dont see why it has to be justified that theres a bird in the mark... isnt it more interesting with it then without...
this logo makes me smile - so it has power - nice work Ostrov
dache - have you ever had one of your many questions answered?... this a site of inspiration, check out Logopond's tagline. While you enjoy positive feedback why not give a little too...
Hey guys and gals, lay off Dache, everyones opinion is welcome. There is no need for personal comments, just keep the conversation relevant to the logo commentary. Feel free to debate each other, just keep it civil and on point, please.
ClimaxDesigns: "apples and oranges, how so, tell me the last time you went to a flower garden and there were no birds?"
I personally have not seen a bird in a rose garden but then again I havent been looking. Birds and rose gardens exist in the same enviromment, thats it. For me the bird has as much of a reason being there as grass, clouds and insects etc. thus questionned its relevance.

My comment was neither negative or positive. Concepts inspire me thus fully understating the nature of the design is important.

no, actually the swoosh represents the wings of the Nike, the greek goddess of Victory.

"*rewrite* How are birds _not_ related to the imagery of a rose, much less a garden."
thats like saying frogs are not related to a fish pond ... are they directly, no, but can one make that leap, easily.

which again have absolutely nothing to do with running shoes, until the shoe company named Nike, made it so...
