When you have a balanced illustration like you have, it should center above the text. There does not seem to be any reason for putting it off center as you have it.
Yeah, I completely agree with you. That was actually one of the first logos I did when I was teaching myself design programs %26 how to do this whole logo design thing...2 years ago.
